Despite this being my first Christmas not in Texas, it was definitely one of the best. It really meant a lot that my family came to spend it with me in Mexico!
Here are some pics of our time together:
Carlos and I took my sisters to a get-together with some friends and we had the best time playing pictionary!
My family loved tacos at Los Pioneros!
Feasting with Carlos’ family at El Principal (can I just take a minute to say Mexican sausage is quickly becoming one of my favorite foods? I have no idea why it’s red, nor do I want to know. I guess ignorance is bliss! 😉 )
We walked around outside the oldest church in Saltillo, from the 1500s…
…because it had this wonderful view of the city at the top.
On Christmas I took my family to Monterreal, and we stopped in this little town (called San Antonio) to buy fresh apple jelly.
And this, is Monterreal. I always ask my students for recommendations around Saltillo, and practically all of them have mentioned going to this little place in the mountains for the scenery. It’s actually a ski resort!
The lodge was beautiful inside
We decided to eat a Christmas Eve lunch at the restaurant there and it was really good
From our table, we had a perfect view of the ski runs. There wasn’t snow, but people were still practicing on the surface. However, 2 days after we came it snowed here for real!
Who knew Mexico had sights like this?
On Christmas Eve, we went to mass with Carlos’ dad. My family and I always go to church together on Christmas Eve and I’m glad we were able to go here. It was also really funny when the advent wreath caught on fire!
Thanks so much for coming, fam! I love y’all so much.
